Projects and Crocheting

December 22nd, 2009 | 7 Comments

So I’ve just been busy doing a lot of things. I saw Avatar in 3D. Was that a good movie or what? Amazing to say the least. I was really enthralled in the detail of the environment, the animals, and of the natives of Pandora. A definite must-see in theaters if you haven’t already.

I’ve been shopping and planning and wrapping up Christmas gifts for my family and close friends. I love finding the right things, and I especially love wrapping and tying up ribbons on the gifts. I always want the presents to look its best. My OCD side of me plus the crafty side of me.

I sewed myself a red taffeta party dress for the holiday. It has a black grosgrain ribbon waist detail, boning in the bodice, invisible back zipper with hook-and-eye closure, and lining.

Felt the urge to crochet, so I made a cute grey scarf to keep warm.

Costumes for Halloween

November 3rd, 2009 | 5 Comments

Hope everyone had a great Halloween. This year I decided to be a princess.

I bought all the fabrics necessary to sew my own Snow White costume and a Dopey costume for Bruce. I think it turned out pretty good for making something from scratch with no pre-made bought pattern. The dress has a velvet bodice with satin sleeves and full skirt. It took about a week due to my schedule. The Dopey costume took me a few hours to finish.

Luly Yang Couture Fashion Show

October 18th, 2009 | 3 Comments

Paul came to visit. Paul is Luly’s brother who came for the fashion show. And I got the opportunity to attend Luly’s fashion show at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Seattle. It was an exciting experience because I love clothing design. Got there around 6pm for the small cocktail party before the show. We had reserved seating in the second row so we had a nice view of everything. The show started at 7pm and started off with some kids from Camp Korey who modeled Luly’s designs specifically made for them. Proceeds from the show went towards Camp Korey, along with donations from the attendees. The next part of the show was client designs, modeled by the clients themselves. One couple went out on the runway, and the guy proposed to his gf when she walked back from the end of the runway. She said yes!

There was a small intermission before the last half of the show. It was Luly’s collection for 2010. There were some interesting and beautiful pieces. And it only made me more interested in designing and making my own stuff. So I really hope to find some time to start on some designs. We stopped by the private party afterwards, to munch on chocolates, desserts, and mini cupcakes from Trophy Cupcakes. Soooo yummy.

Pictures available publicly on my Flickr.

I got myself some new shoes from RPS to prepare for the Fall/Winter weather. We’ve had some crazy rains the last few days, and looks like it’s going to stay wet for awhile.

End of Summer Recap

September 24th, 2009 | 3 Comments

So since the last entry, I’ve gone on vacation. My family and I flew to Montréal to visit our relatives. We drove down to Toronto on the first day, and spent the weekend at my aunt’s house. We had a Buddhist ceremony and then celebrated my cousin’s 18th birthday at night. We had way too much fun. Drove back to Montréal on Sunday. The rest of the time we hung out with the family, did some downtown Montréal shopping, some shooting with the paintball gun (My uncle has his own gear), jumped around on the trampoline, and swam in the backyard pool. Got a little bit sick at the end of the trip. Our return home was a big mess. They screwed up on our boarding pass, only to make us miss our flight, so they booked us a flight for the next morning. Went back to the airport at 3am only to find out that the computer went down, and our boarding passes had to be handwritten. Nearly missed our flight again! Get home, and our luggage didn’t make it on our connection flight! They sent it out on the next flight out from Detroit. It was very stressful, because my sister had to fly back out the next morning to Italy.

After vacation, I was sick for a little while. But got better quickly. In time for the Aflac Iron Girl 5K/10K that my sister, my niece and I registered for. We did the 5K. It was a lot of fun to participate and to see all these women geared up for a run around Greenlake. It was a beautiful morning too. After our finish, we got medals and breakfast.

Caught a show on Tuesday. Went to see It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Nightman Cometh at the Moore Theatre. Freakin’ hilarious! I love this show.

Pulled a few Series 2009 dunnys. And got the black Undercover Bear from OriginalFake/Kaws. Too cute.

I also picked up the new Dan Brown book, The Lost Symbol. Been reading that since, and it’s quite interesting so far.

Happy Birthdays to: Brandon, Angel, Annaleece, Neng, Paul, Jonathan, Chun, Evelynn, and Soda. And coming up for Marina and Erin.
